At this year’s Operational Risk & Technology even, Sean Titley, the Bank of London's deputy CRO, discussed how operational resilience has evolved into a defining metric of institutional strength. The conversation highlights the tension between innovation and control - how banks can accelerate digital transformation without compromising on governance, cybersecurity, or risk culture. With regulators sharpening their focus on technology risk, firms are now expected to demonstrate resilience that extends across data, systems, and third-party ecosystems.
The interview underscores a shift from reactive risk management to proactive resilience. Participants outline how AI, automation, and cloud technologies are reshaping the risk landscape, while also introducing new vulnerabilities. The key takeaway is clear: success depends not on eliminating risk, but on embedding agility, accountability, and technology governance deep into every layer of the organization.
