Water scarcity, flooding, and growing environmental pressures are bringing water stewardship to the forefront of sustainability discussions. As companies face increasing resource stress, investment in water management and efficiency solutions is becoming more urgent across many industries.
Hacina Py explains how banks can support this transition by financing innovative technologies, advising clients on sustainability strategies, and investing in emerging companies focused on water solutions. She also highlights the importance of collaboration and industry dialogue in advancing sustainable finance initiatives.
Hacina joined Societe Generale in 1995 and has developed as a seasoned banker through various positions, both in structured finance and in corporate roles. She started her sustainability journey back in 2015, when she was appointed Global Head of Export Finance. She led the transformation of the business line with a strong sustainability focus and then took over the position of Head of Impact Finance Solutions in 2019. An ambitious transformation program has been launched to embed ESG in each business team, with the adaptation of teams’ mandates to the new ESG paradigm. These two last positions have naturally led Hacina to become the bank’s CSO at the end of 2021. Hacina Py graduated from the EM Strasbourg business school and studied finance at Heriot Watt University, Edinburgh.
